Negative experiences, big and little traumas, can impact your life in many ways. They can effect how you see the world and how you see yourself. They can effect your mood, your relationships and even your physical health.

Therapy can help you take back your life. EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is considered to be the gold standard treatment for reducing the effects of trauma. I am a certified EMDR therapist and use EMDR in combination with other evidence based interventions such as IFS (Internal Family Systems) which works with internal parts that make up your whole self, with CBT and DBT to build skills to change your current life while working through underlying issues.

One of the best ways to work through trauma using EMDR is EMDR Intensives which are 2-3 hour sessions for 3-4 sessions to reprocess specific targeted trauma or effects of trauma. This option is much faster paced, ideal for someone who has had a significant amount of traditional therapy and/or currently seeing a talk therapist but wants to supplement it with more intentional trauma work. This is often more cost effective as it is faster paced and there is less time checking in and more on targeted reprocessing.

Feeling safe internally is very important when working through effects of trauma. I am certified in the Safe and Sound Protocol which is an evidence based sound therapy which is proven to calm nervous system and is an excellent way to prepare for EMDR or as an adjunct to EMDR.

I work with trauma at your speed, I will not push you to face more than you are ready to talk about or feel But we will get things done.

I’m here to support you through this transformation.

FAQS

What others have wondered about trauma therapy…

  • Yes!

  • I have a lot of experience (more than 20 years) working with people who have experienced trauma. I use a lot of different interventions to make sure you are in the right space, have enough inner resources and will go at your speed. Every session the focus on trauma is under your control.

  • Reduction in intrusive thoughts, in nightmares, improvement in symptoms of depression and anxiety, improved interpersonal relationships, improved self esteem and sense of self.

  • People doing EMDR intensives will see real results in one or two sessions! For more traditional therapeutic work, most people I work with show real, noticeable improvement in their life in 2-3 months. Depending on your traumas and how deeply they have impacted your life it may take severe months to complete treatment.
